It’s a strange pickle, to be sure. The film’s greatest strength — that it tackles a culturally specific storyline with care and respect, never falling into cheap tropes — is also what keeps it from being genuinely scary. Usha (Sarita Choudhury) is a traditional Indian mother who believes in everything from reincarnation and birth charts to matchmaking and lifelong curses, the kind of stuff another story (and other creators) might treat as a simple way to deliver out-there scares....

Father Walter (played by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) has not moved on from his lover Linda (Nana Mensah), while his wife Esther (Zainab Jah) has found solace in religion, which doesn’t immediately register with him, although he does want to understand. Meanwhile, Esther and their daughter Sylvia (Jayme Lawson) are struggling to adapt to life in a new country, wondering if all the fracas that was involved in making the trip to the United States was worth the effort....

Baseball fans are gearing up for a real-life “Field of Dreams” experience. After more than two years of planning, and six years after the idea first came about, Major League Baseball will unveil a specially constructed ballpark in Iowa on Thursday. The Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees will face off at the baseball field located next to the cornfield where “Field of Dreams” was filmed. The “MLB at Field of Dreams” event will include a “corn maze” featuring the MLB silhouetted batter logo, and a first-of-its-kind LED lighting system that will illuminate most of the 159 acres of corn fields surrounding the ballpark....

While Pacino could conceivably be back as Hanna (and already has fan-casted Timothée Chalamet to play the younger version of himself) due to a time jump in the sequel installment, Mann confirmed that De Niro and Kilmer will not be reprising their roles....

First-time feature filmmaker Emma Holly Jones spins a lush, lavish, and quite frisky tale with her “Mr. Malcolm’s List,” presenting a fresh twist on the Regency Era rom-com that has kept author Jane Austen such a hot commodity for so long. Jones, however, makes nearly as many missteps along the way (said mean streak, predictable plotting, and a conclusion that feels far too pat) as she does smart choices (delightful casting, wicked humor, and some genuine chemistry), keeping the film from reaching the upper echelon of this charming sub-genre....

In June 2020, Netflix announced “Ozark’s” renewal and that Season 4 would mark its end. The final season did earn an expansion, though, bringing its episode total to 14. Seven episodes will be released in the first part, leaving seven more for the second. While fans may not be eager to wait any longer for the Byrde family’s resolution, the split release does allow Netflix to debut episodes sooner — if we waited until all the episodes were complete, the release date would undoubtedly be much further away....
