Zizo is the second early death, for the grand imam succumbs to illness shortly after Adam’s arrival. Grand imams hold their position for a lifetime, so the matter of who exactly is elected to fill his shoes is a matter of vital political importance to the ruthless powerbrokers behind the scenes....

Deadline reports that Fukunaga, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his work on “True Detective” in 2014, will also produce the Apple TV+ World War II series. The project hails from Spielberg’s Amblin Television, and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone. It’s possible that “Masters of the Air” will be the first of several Apple TV+ projects that Fukunaga works on; Deadline also reported that the Cupertino tech company was nearing a first-look deal with Fukunaga to develop other television projects....

In recent years, there have been several seemingly failed attempts to bring Till’s story to the screen by a handful of Hollywood players, each based on different source material. It makes sense; a screen adaptation of the tragic and brutal story of Till’s murder at the hands of a white mob, and the aftermath, couldn’t be more timely in the era of Black Lives Matter. And writer-director Chinonye Chukwu likely agrees....

Where to Watch “Culture Shock”: Hulu “Into the Dark,” which wrapped its second season earlier this year on Hulu, is an anthology series. By its nature, there’s a certain hit-or-miss quality, especially when the horror collection adds the constraint of tying each installment into a holiday. Some can get too cute by half, while others (like Nacho Vigalondo’s bonkers “Pooka!” or the most recent “Blood Moon”) strip away those ties to find the thematic strength underneath....

And after several happy speeches from the likes of “Frozen” actresses Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, and inspirational moments like “Black-ish” actress Tracee Ellis Ross discussing the significance of her ABC series, the final Legend was met with utter appreciation and reverence. The late Chadwick Boseman was honored with the award, and his brother Derrick sought to remind the audience that the honor of Disney Legend status went deeper than anyone could have expected....

Of course, anyone who’s braved the original game before (or any of the sequels, offshoots, and imitations that belong to the “Soulsborne” genre it spawned) should know better than to lower their guard and drink in the scenery for even a millisecond. Pause to marvel at the degree of detail on a corpse’s feet in the Valley of Defilement, for example, and you’ll be plagued by dog-sized rats before you even have time to look up....

Both Comedy and Drama categories saw complete turnover in nominees from 2019, with none of the series honored last year airing episodes during the window of eligibility in 2020. Ramírez will play Paolo Macchiarini, an Italian surgeon who became known for his research into innovative organ transplants, gaining the nickname “Miracle Man,” before accusations of research fraud and unethical experiments destroyed his career. The season will focus on the investigations from fellow researchers into Macchiarini’s surgeries, as well as his relationship with journalist Benita Alexander. A true crime anthology series, “Dr. Death” is based on a Wondery podcast that explores severe cases of medical malpractice, frequently resulting in the deaths of patients....

Jordan to play my son and he would be looking for a wife,” Murphy said. “I was like, then the movie would be about the son, it’s not our characters, we already did that. The State of the Race With “Fleabag” out of the running and “Veep” over, the comedy race looks like it’s “Mrs. Maisel’s” to lose. Of course, plenty of networks will be promising they’ve got the “Fleabag” of 2020 — a buzzy, out-of-nowhere hit that becomes an undeniable champion. So… do they? “Insecure” could also have a shot. Issa Rae’s HBO comedy had a banner year and was rewarded with its best Emmy haul to date....
