Netflix announced that “Servant of the People,” the satirical series that starred the Ukrainian president as a teacher who unexpectedly becomes president after his rant against corruption goes viral, is back on the platform. The three-season series launched Zelensky’s real-life political career and concluded after Zelensky decided to run for president in 2019 under the new political party known as Servant of the People. The Ukrainian production was originally available to watch on Netflix from 2017 to 2021, though the series officially launched in 2015 in Ukraine....

“I feel really sad because of what happened with Kevin had sort of left its mark on it,” Ball said of the film. “Especially since the character he played in the movie is somebody who’s lusting after a 17-year old girl. I wonder if that movie would get made now.” Written by Ball and directed by Sam Mendes, “American Beauty” world premiered at the 1999 Toronto International Film Festival to breakout acclaim before hitting theaters in the same month....

Years later in the 1930s, the trio are accused of killing someone and soon find themselves wrapped up in a conspiracy rooted in the “most shocking secret plots in American history,” as the synopsis says. Written and directed by five-time Oscar nominee Russell, “Amsterdam” also stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert De Niro, Rami Malek, Taylor Swift, Chris Rock, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Zoe Saldaña, Alessandro Nivola, Timothy Olyphant, and Andrea Riseborough....

The actor reprises his role as the titular Ant-Man in upcoming Marvel film “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” continuing the multiverse theme for the latest phase of the MCU. The third “Ant-Man” installment, directed by Peyton Reed, premieres in theaters February 17, 2023. Evangeline Lilly is back as The Wasp, with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer returning to their respective roles as the O.G. Ant-Man and The Wasp couple. Franchise newcomers include Bill Murray as Krylar, a villain from the Quantum Realm, and “Freaky” star Kathryn Newton taking over the role of Cassie Lang, Ant-Man’s daughter....

Director Cameron shared — via video message from Ellington, New Zealand — that the “final touches” are being put on “Avatar 2,” officially titled “Avatar: The Way of Water,” during Disney’s CinemaCon presentation. “I know it’s been rough on the exhibition community these last two years,” Cameron said of theaters amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “I just want you to hear it from me that [producer Jon Landau] and I are here to work with you, you’re our partners, and the best way we can do that is delivering content that is a must-see experience at the cinema....

In addition to the planned revival of the television series, which has already been given a two-season order, Paramount+ is gearing up to release a second movie, “Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.” The film was written, directed, and produced by Judge, who also voices the eponymous characters. While the initial film was a road trip comedy that spanned the United States of America, Judge’s sequel has even bigger aims, taking the characters to outer space and beyond....

Typically a razor-sharp writer, Sorkin (who is the sole credited screenwriter of the period drama) seems to trip his way into his ultimate interest here: bolstering the true genius of Ball, even in tough times. That’s a worthy aim, but one made all the weirder by his apparent disdain for Ball’s most pronounced talent: being funny. In the world of “Being the Ricardos,” Ball’s tremendous physical comedy is simply another facet of her iron-willed work ethic and obsession with perfection....

The “Fast and Furious” actress and star of upcoming fantasy action heist film “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” detailed her workout routine to prepare for the role. “[It was] lots of working out, lots of protein shakes, lots of gas,” Rodriguez told the San Diego Comic-Con crowd (via Insider). “Lots of push-ups, lots of sit ups. There’s lots of lifting weights. During COVID, you could get lots of frustration so I kind of got [producer] Jeremy [Latcham] to hook me up with a punching bag by my trailer....

But sources tell IndieWire that its availability on Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max will not be on the same date. Luhrmann previously stated that it wouldn’t come to the studio’s streamer until “fall.” WBD has never confirmed that, but any HBO Max premiere after 45 days in theatrical release would run counter to its plans for 2022 theatrical releases. After a tumultuous 2021 when all Warners films appeared on Max day-and-date with theaters, the company said the plan was 45 days going forward....

In a significant development that went relatively unnoticed, Cinemark, the third-largest domestic exhibitor in the U.S., recently announced a partnership with Mission Control, an e-sports firm, to host gaming events and related activities to many of their U.S. theaters. This is a smart move and part of what we are likely to see more of as exhibitors, faced with reduced grosses and fewer films released by studios to theaters, innovate with ways to monetize their screens in other ways than showing movies....

Michaels alleges that she suffered a “serious fracture dislocation to her left ankle” while filming the climatic Battle of Winterfell scene during the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” in February 2018. Variety reported that the court documents list the legal claim as being worth almost $5 million in damages. Michaels, along with a group of 28 stunt performers dressed as Wights, aka zombies controlled by White Walkers, were allegedly instructed by production to walk off a 12-foot high roof “as if unaware of the drop, in keeping with the zombie-like nature of the Wights” during Episode 3....

When Benioff and Weiss were looking for directors for “Thrones” Season 7, McElhenney pitched them on hiring his frequent “It’s Always Sunny” director Matt Shakman. Benioff and Weiss accepted and Shakman was hired to direct two Season 7 episodes, including the battle-heavy intalllment “The Spoils of War.” The director proved to be a great addition to the “Thrones” creative team, but Weiss and Benioff decided to mess with McElhenney by telling him otherwise....
